“The Life You Save…” is a blog by one dedicated volunteer at the San Francisco SPCA. In my seven years of volunteering, I’ve been involved in many different aspects of the work of the SF/SPCA, from showing cats to potential adopters in Maddie’s Adoption Center to community outreach to offering tours of the new Leanne Roberts Animal Care Center.
One important aspect of the SPCA’s mission is to “enhance the human-animal bond.” This blog celebrates that bond, with the firm belief that companion animals bring us joy, and round out our lives in some really surprising ways. They are at our sides when we’re ill, they can cheer us up when we’re down, and can enrich our lives and personal narratives with their antics.
Go ahead, come home from work after a lousy day. Open the door to your apartment and try to keep the same mind-set, with a cute cat or dog waiting for you on the other side of that door, I’m willing to bet you can’t.
What a beautiful site this is – and I simply love the sentiment here. Glad to have found you! Here’s another image I canNOT resist smiling at…..I can be driving around frantically on my way to whatever my next “urgent” appointment is, I can be frustrated as all get-out with the traffic, and I can have a mind racing with the 1,000+1 things on my “to do” list….but if I look at the car next to me to see a dog sitting in the front seat looking back….I just melt. Every time. I smile, I laugh and I remember what life is REALLY about. Thank goodness for animals – we’re so lucky! Bert
